PRESERVING THE HISTORY OF THE PRISON AND THOSE WHO WERE THERE

The Salisbury Confederate Prison Association, Inc. is a non-profit 501 (C) (3) organization that was chartered April 1999. Among our purposes are the following:

	To promote understanding and preservation of the Salisbury Confederate Prison and the site of its location in Salisbury, NC.
	To encourage understanding and the exchange of information, knowledge, and experiioences between the descendants of Confederate Guards and Union Prisoners of War of the Prison and other interested persons.
	To encourage, conduct, publish, and distribute seminars, newsletters, brochures, and other educational and promotional material.
	To promote archaeological exploration of the historic site for educational and related purposes.
	To collect copies of diaries, letters, military records, images, family histories, relics, books, and other information and items relating to the Salisbury Confederate Prison.
	To further the memory and honor of the Prison and those who served there as prisoners or guards through educational means, including a museum and learning center.
